The Week’s swampy brand of rock calls to mind the tunes we heard our parents play as kids. Singer Cyle Barnes’ trance-like, pushed vocal delivery seems to introduce a dark element to what are otherwise fun, mostly major-key songs. Sam Williams’ tasteful guitar playing establishes a sort of authority that is missing from much of rock music today.
This is the band you’ve been looking for if you are a fan of the of the straight-ahead rock hits of the early 80’s, crave that indie “x factor” of today’s young bands, and can’t resist a Southern touch. Though Mississippi was home to a large amount of legendary blues, country, and R&B artists, The Weeks are sure to put Jackson on the map for Rock N Roll.
