Mike Love
Mike Love uses a large looping pedal-board to incorporate voice samples and guitar work with a heavy bass presence into his lively acoustic performance. He makes true roots reggae, channeling his legends to write music that’s freeing and personal, but with a message of radical peace buried within. Love is classically trained on piano and writes his traditional tales with careful song construction.
A proud resident of Hawaii, Love gets his energy from the geography, lifestyle and family he has there. On this inspiration Mike Love has said, “I [also] feel heavily influenced by the beautiful land I was so lucky to be raised in. These islands that we call home are filled with such diverse beauty and mystery, that you can’t help but develop a poetic nature from living here. The beautiful forests, the deep carved valleys, the rivers that run to the sea. The immensely powerful ocean, with its healing energy, and the long sandy beaches and rock cliffs. I feel like growing up here has given me a perspective you just can’t get in most places. It manifests itself in the lyrics that repeatedly show up in my songs, reflecting on Mother Nature and her gifts, and our responsibility to protect Her.”
His new record “Love Will Find a Way” released on September 1st, 2015. Watch the band performing tracks from the album here on Audiotree Live.
