P.M. Buys
“Folksinger P.M. Buys stands as any building from his city’s skyline would: stretched high and slender. With a harmonica slung from his neck and a well-aged guitar in his hands, he appears to compartmentally fit his Midwest predecessors like Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. Comparisons with the Ghosts of Folk Musics Past would be fair, but do not be deceived. P.M. Buys has created a sound entirely current, and especially his. He comes upon this sound through use of intricate finger picking patterns, surprising chord progressions and vocal accompaniment from classically trained soprano Emily Volz. Both standing at 23 years of age, the duo’s voices work in tandem and counterpoint to push performances to an enchanting state. P.M. Buys’ debut EP, entitled Funeral Psalms, was released in January of 2014.” Watch him perform songs from the awesome debut.
