We Were Promised Jetpacks

We Were Promised Jetpacks is an indie-rock band from Edinburgh, Scotland. Adam Thompson’s signature accented vocal style wails over groovy, instrumental post-rock. Their ear-catching sound is tinged with arena rock and a bit of punk. Since “These Four Walls” the Scotsmen’s sound has progressed into something more distinctly riff-driven and explosive. Dynamic and varied breakdowns with intricate guitar inlays drive “In the Pit of the Stomach”, the band’s newest effort.

Inspired by other Scottish acts, Frightened Rabbit, Biffy Clyro and the Twilight Sad, the band has taken an underdog aesthetic and transformed it into an overhaul of the genre. Preferring their delivery in a live setting, WWPJ has released a stunning live album at El Rey in Philadelphia to complement their discography.
