Mothers is the full band project of Kristine Leschper. She has an ear for subtle tone alteration, and the drive to create their specific brand of unconventional somber pop.

Mothers began with simple solo tracks crafted on acoustic guitar or ukulele and posted on Youtube, but found its full formation with assistance from drummer Matthew Anderegg. Leschper and Anderegg recruited guitarist Drew Kirby and bassist Patrick Morales last fall and wrote their first full-band effort, “No Crying in Baseball.” It’s a standout single that’s jagged and temperamental; the song sways between somber pop and noisy punk filtered through a realistic but optimistic lens.

Prone to variance in texture and feel, Mothers’ allure lies in creative song construction. The songs are crushing, lively, and roomy enough to allow for continuous development. Leschper’s soft but energized voice is peppered through kinetic instrumental numbers, controlling the volume and intensity of each track.
