Zaramela

Gathering the talents of a few Columbia College students and gigging musicians, Zaramela has created a sound that is dynamic and technically spot on. Their jazzy blend of hip hop, soul, and rock is vibrant, playful, and energetic. The six piece is diverse in style and instrumentation; borrowing the talents of friends in a shared practice space to hone in their outdoor festival-friendly sound.

Chicago’s hip hop scene has exploded with the positive critical reception of artists like Chance the Rapper, Mick Jenkins and Saba Pivot. They’ve reached this acclaim from relative obscurity through collaboration with other local musicians. Instead of forcing progress alone, bands in this scene have pooled their talent to achieve a respectable presence among critics and friends. Zaramela was birthed from one section of this collaborative pool.

Watch the young sextet perform tracks from their album to be released this September here on Audiotree Live.
