Fujiya & Miyagi

Fujiya & Miyagi is a monotonic kraut rock band who are inspired by creative wordplay. David Best’s lyrics focus on strange, often unspoken topics and word combinations that are rarely chosen. The band’s guitar work is repetitive, steady and oddly textured with an often sharp, mechanical tone. Fujiya and Miyagi have a constant, ever-present pulse that is led by sparse drum work and simple bass lines. Unwavering and steady, the band is efficient in their use of quirky, three-part vocals.

Their fifteen-year career has seen its share of favorable reviews and commercial success, cultivating in the sound they are known for today. Newest release, “Artificial Sweeteners” is a continuation of a style that further solidifies Fujiya and Miyagi in the rock community.
